What should DC do now?

Marvel played the movie game perfectly. What seemed like a crazy, impossible and very cool idea that I didn’t see working, has actually come to fruition fantastically in what I think is the best “proper comics film” ever. If you’d told me five years ago that an Iron Man film would kickstart a series of movies that would bring together all the coolest (except Spiderman and Wolverine) Marvel heroes and whatsmore, be an Avengers film, I’d have given you a long, boring list as to why that would never work. Don’t get me wrong, it hasn’t been a perfect journey. The … Continue reading What should DC do now?

What I want to see in The Dark Knight Rises

I’m going to leave the big decisions to Christopher Nolan. What I mean is that I’m not going to comment on the actual story or what direction the film takes or anything like that. What I want are small things. These are things that appeal to the fan in me! I’ve been a Batman fan for as long as I can remember. From collecting the Batman Adventures comics as a kid and watching Batman: The Animated Series (which has never been bettered) to where I now try to collect as many Batman graphic novels as possible to keep me up to date with … Continue reading What I want to see in The Dark Knight Rises

Movies that should be continued as cartoons

Two things inspired this article, my Ghostbusters 3 “rant” and Napoleon Dynamite review. I ended my Ghostbusters 3 article by deciding that the only way forward for the franchise was not a third (and probably disappointing) film but actually a cartoon. Napoleon Dynamite spurred me on further because they have continued this film with a cartoon. I have already shared my views on why this isn’t working but what it did get me thinking about was which films should be continued as cartoons and why…     The Matrix This seems obvious. How cool would a “mature” cartoon set in the world of … Continue reading Movies that should be continued as cartoons

Why they shouldn’t make Ghostbusters 3!

About a month ago I caught the end of Ghostbusters 2. It was brilliant. I found myself reciting key lines and getting excited about seeing moments that I don’t think I’d watched since I was at leat a teenager. The Ghostbusters were a huge part of my childhood. I loved both films, the tv show, I had books, toys, bedsheets and wallpaper. I was (and still am) a huge fan. So any news about a new Ghostbusters film should be met with unbridled joy and excitement… but no. I think it is a terrible idea. Here’s why; 1. No Bill … Continue reading Why they shouldn’t make Ghostbusters 3!

Batman versus Spiderman versus The Avengers!

This is going to be the greatest summer for blockbuster movies probably ever! That is because there are three films that will hopefully set a new standard in Superhero films. The actual superhero genre of films has been so watered down and overdone that it takes something special to actually register. This summer we should have three films that will hopefully register. Two of the films are the end of a long process and another is designed to be the beginning. Whether by design or coincidence, the studios behind these three films have decided to release them in the same … Continue reading Batman versus Spiderman versus The Avengers!

Ten films you should be excited about in 2012!

When I actually wrote down all the films I think will be “must see” for this year, I actually got a list of twenty-one!!! I decided the best thing to try to do would be to narrow it down to a good ten. The ten I’m most excited about seeing because of the hype around them, the trailers, the actual story within the film itself or the fact that the earlier films in the series have been good. So without further ado, we begin at number ten… 10 – The Pirates! In an adventure with Scientists. It was the trailer … Continue reading Ten films you should be excited about in 2012!
