Bridesmaids (2011) Review

Any film should be very careful about associating itself with a successful film from the past. You always see on posters things like “from the makers of” or “from the producers of” or in the case of Bridesmaids “Better than…” The last one is usually from a critic, a small soundbite from someone who liked the film. The Hangover Part 2 (2011) Review

I hate unnecessary or “forced” sequels. In my opinion, there are two categories films that warrant sequels fall into. They have to either be a character driven story, ie any superhero, Indiana Jones, James Bond, etc. Or be set in a world rich with story telling possibilities, ie The Matrix universe, Star Wars universe, Star Trek or (at a push) Jurassic Park. 21 Jump Street (2012) Review

I love being surprised by a film. I stand by the fact that I will pretty much watch anything, regardless of director/actor/genre and with my girlfriend getting into films as much as I am now, that sometimes means sitting and watching something I usually wouldn’t. Tropic Thunder (2008) Review

Tropic Thunder feels like it wouldn’t have mattered if nobody had seen it. I watched it thinking that this film was made more for every actor involved to have fun and mess around than it was to actually make any money. It’s because of this that I loved it! From the ingenious fake trailers used to introduce each character at the beginning to the countless, ridiculous cameo’s, this film was brilliant.
