Arrival (2016) Review

Arrival is a film about a woman trying to talk to aliens. It goes a little deeper than that but if you had to boil the plot down and avoid spoilers, that is essentially it. For an alien invasion movie there is little sci-fi action, very minor credible threat and a lot of dialogue heavy, often […]

The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) Review

The Avengers was event cinema. It was a moment where Marvel caught lightning in a bottle, managing to execute a plan that was years in the making and combined big stars, a large story, a shared universe and culminated in one of the best movies – let alone greatest superhero movie – of all time. The Town (2010) Review

Ben Affleck baffles me. Before I started watching The Town, I asked myself, what good films have I actually seen Ben Affleck in? Nothing instantly sprung to mind. He didn’t seem to have that one film or collection of films that you reeled off when anyone asked for your favourite Ben Affleck film. Ask me about Matt Damon, I can do it no problem (in fact that led me to remember Affleck was in Dogma) but Affleck doesn’t seem to have that one, stand-out, famous role. Daredevil could have been it but it tried too hard to be like all other comic … Continue reading The Town (2010) Review
