It’s easy to forget that Liam Neeson is a really good, Oscar nominated actor who has starred in some really heavyweight films, the pinnacle of which is probably Schindler’s List. The Grey is another example of why Liam Neeson is a brilliant “action hero.” I put action hero in inverted commas because The Grey isn’t the same type of film that we’ve already seen him in with Unknown, Taken and The A-Team. Liam Neeson is a believable, brilliant action hero for one reason above all others; he’s an “everyman.” What I mean by “everyman” for anyone that isn’t familiar with the term, is that he is a hero who could be anyone. He doesn’t have a huge advantage over anyone else or characteristics that make him stand-out from your average man.
