Views from the Sofa’s Greatest Scenes is a list of the greatest moments in the movies. This could be long introductions, moments of action or great dialogue between characters. The scenes are in no particular order and come from many different types of movies.

An X-Men movie without Wolverine just wouldn’t feel right but when the prequel to the original X-Men trilogy, X-Men: First Class, was announced that is what people had to contend with. Luckily, in just a 20 second clip, all would be put right and one of the greatest cameos in movie history would grace the screen.

Greatest Scene Number 42: X-Men: First Class – “Go F*** Yourself”

It is perfect because it sums up the character so well. Hugh Jackman’s Logan did not play well with others, he didn’t want to join the X-Men and certainly didn’t want to live in a school for mutants. He would be someone that the young Professor X and Magneto (played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender respectively) would go searching for. It is part of a wider montage so you don’t expect it to happen and it is done with little to no fanfare which makes it even more shocking when you see the famous superhero’s appearance.

Add to this the first time that the F-Word is said in the X-Men franchise. PG-13 are allowed to use the F-Word once in their runtime and it is used carefully and with maximum impact. This is the best use of the word you could have imagined and gave us a glimpse of the character Wolverine would be allowed to become in Logan.

It does still hint at future endeavours though. After dispatching the two enquiring mutants quite abruptly, Logan still looks back, pondering on who they are and what they wanted and hinting at the future in the movies he would still be yet to have.

Overall, a short cameo and just one sudden, unforgettable line, but it makes maximum impact and ensures that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is featured in all the X-Men movies, even if his role isn’t always so prominent.
