I love trailers. I think there is a special skill to putting together a good trailer. It must capture the attention and entice an audience but give very little away so that the viewer doesn’t feel like they’ve already seen the movie. Very few trailers master this but there are many that try and get very close. Every day I will highlight a new trailer which manages to successfully get me excited for a movie. This trailer features Tom Cruise in a slightly different role to his usual…
When you think Tom Cruise, you think “American Made.” However this doesn’t feel like your usual Tom Cruise movie. For starters he feels like more of a “normal” guy, something Tom Cruise hasn’t played in many years. This isn’t an action movie either so Cruise isn’t dangling off any planes or being blown across bridges by explosions.
The actual film looks decent if not “must-see” but whatever you think of Cruise as a person, you can’t help but want to see his films. It has been a while since the actor made a movie which was truly terrible and his films are always at least entertaining.
Overall, hardly a “mist-see” movie but American Made could be interesting for the fact that Tom Cruise isn’t playing his usual, explosion-proof action hero.
