1000 Review!

Distinct Chatter has finally reached its 1000 review.

On News Years Eve 2011, a friend of mine suggested I stop giving one sentence reviews of movies on Facebook and put some actual time and effort into reviews for movies. He suggested starting my own blog/site so on the 5th January 2012, I did exactly that.

The site started as just sporadic reviews, peppered with some other features through the years for example 3 of the Best vs 3 of the Worst, Career Peak and other general views on movies and TV. I also did themed months, like Month of Bond or choosing specific movies series to review during October.

As time has passed, life has gotten in the way, which means all the views and opinions have been scaled back to purely movie reviews. In the run-up to both the 1000 review and the 10th birthday of Distinct Chatter (which was formally Views from the Sofa) I have been adding a movie review every day.

Which leads us to the 1000 review. Back on January 5th 2012, I was a member of the Netflix rival LoveFilm. My random DVD I had gotten through the post (because that’s how things used to be done 10 years ago!) was the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid. You can read that review here and as you can see, I went for a very different style back then.

So it only seemed fitting that the review I post for my 1000th is the original Karate Kid movie. Never reviewed before in the ten years I have been doing the site.

Overall, please enjoy the review of The Karate Kid and while you’re here, take a look at the Review List, which has links to every review completed in the almost ten years of Distinct Chatter. And here’s to another 1000 reviews, perhaps I should leave Karate Kid Part 2 for review 2000!
